Minorities welfare‘Rs 250m to be given in next budget’

* Sharmila says Islam has given complete protection and rights to minorities

KARACHI: All minorities have their due share in the country and they have complete freedom of expression and have liberty to follow their religious rituals according to 1973 Constitution. 

Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Sharmila Farooqi has said while talking to a delegation of minorities here on Monday. 

She said that Sindh govt had started many projects for the welfare of minorities and Rs 100 million had been allocated for the purpose and Rs 250 million would be allocated in next budget.

The adviser said, “This amount will be used for the renovation of minorities’ religious and cultural places, stipends for poor students and financial assistance to the needy families.”

She said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had a dream to protect and provide basic rights to the minorities and President Zardari was fulfilling the dream through his political reconciliation policy. 

Sharmila appreciated the welfare institutions and educational system of minorities and said that the minorities were working for the progress of the country and paying their constructive role against terrorism and extremism. She said that Islam has given complete protection and rights to the minorities and it was a matter of the pleasure that all the followers of different religions in Pakistan, were leading a life of brotherhood and tolerance. 

Present democratic government would foil all undemocratic conspiracies with the support of the masses and the enemies of peace would never succeed in their ulterior motives, she added. The adviser said that unless all democratic forces performed their duties, we could not be able to get complete progress of the country. 

She said maintaining law and order in Karachi was the top priority of the government and with the support of the coalition partner peace would be maintained in Karachi and target killers would be brought to the task. 

On this occasion Ashoke Kumar and Joseph Stephen informed the adviser about their problems and assured their full support to the government.

Sharmila told the delegation that she would talk to President Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah about their problems. staff report

In Pakistan, to be a minority is a curse ?

Pakistan, which does not let go of any opportunity to heckle India on perceived human rights violations, stands exposed as at least 27 Hindu families from Balochistan have approached the Indian High Commission in Islamabad seeking political asylum in this country. The drastic step taken by the Hindus, who have been living in the Province for centuries, shows their miserable plight and that they can no longer live in fear of abduction for ransom, armed robberies and murder. When a Pakistani official — Regional Director for the Federal Ministry of Human Rights Saeed Ahmed Khan — expresses great concern and urges the Pakistani Government to take immediate measures to improve the law and order situation, it serves to underscore that it has failed miserably in its duty to protect the religious minorities from growing Islamist violence. Most important, the Pakistani Government cannot even term it as a false allegation because statistics of its Ministry of Human Rights reveals an alarming rise in the cases of human rights violation in Balochistan. The situation in Sind, where 95 per cent of the Hindus in Pakistan live, is worse. A BBC report, published earlier this year, has cited several cases of abduction, torture, rape and murder to show how Hindus face an uncertain future in Pakistan due to its Government’s failure to take action against Islamic groups hostile to minorities.

Hindus in Pakistan seeking asylum in India is a stark reminder that minority Hindus continue to suffer apartheid in that country despite Gen Pervez Musharraf abolishing the separate electorate system as no political party fights for their cause or respects their aspirations. Therefore, it is extremely galling to see Pakistani leaders taking the moral high ground and indulging in self-righteous rhetoric — both Houses of Pakistan’s National Assembly adopted resolutions in September condemning the ‘violence’ against Kashmiri people to ‘sensitise’ the international community — when discriminatory laws in their own land foster intolerance and compel the oppressed to suffer in silence. Certainly, it is the prerogative of every sovereign state to legislate the laws of its land, but at the same time, it does not merit reiteration that every Government is bound by its responsibility to protect the weak and the vulnerable. Pakistan has relentlessly pursued the Kashmir issue on every conceivable international forum, brazenly accusing India of imagined atrocities. But today, it stands accused of charges it levels against others. Its not Hindus alone who suffer indignity and worse in Pakistan; Christians are treated like criminals and charges of blasphemy are levelled against them on the flimsiest of excuses. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is anything but a republic; it’s a hell for minorities.

نمائندہ خصوصی، کاوش جاوید پال ،کوئٹہ پاکستان(27 نومبر2010) عالمی مجلس تحفظ نبوت بلوچستان کے قائم مقام امیر مولانہ عبدالوحد ناظم تبلیغ شیخ القرآن مولانہ قاری وعبدا لر حیم ر حیمی نے مشترکہ بیان میں کہا ہے کہ وفاقی وزیراقلیلتی امور شہباز بھٹی عند یہ دیا ہے کہ حکومت توہین رسالت کے قانون میں ترمیم کرے گی کیونکہ اسکا غلط استعمال ہو رہا ہے مقدمہ درج کرنے کاطریقہ کار تبدیل کیاجائے گا پہلے اس قسم کے الزام میں سیشن جج تحقیقات کرے گا اگر الزام ثابت ہوا تو مقدمہ درج کیا جائے ورنہ الزام لگانے والے کے خلاف کاروائی کیجائی یہ بھی کہا کہ یہ قانون عیسائیوں کیخلاف استعمال ہورہا ہے ایک امتیازی قانون ہے اس قسم کا بیان پوپ بنیڈکٹ کے ایک عیسائی خاتون آسیہ بی بی کو توہین رسالت کے مقدمے میں سزا پر نکتہ چینی کی ہے علماء کرام نے کہا ہے کہ 50 روپے کی مرغی کی چوری کے مقدمے میں تحقیقات کی ضرورت نہیں لیکن توہین رسالت کے مقدمے میں لمبی چوڑی تحقیقات کا یہی مقصد ہے وفاقی وزیر چور کو چوری نہ کرنے سے منع نہیں کرتے سزا کے خلاف ہیں آج تک اس جرم میں پاکستا ن میں کسی کو پھانسی نہیں ہوئی اگر حکومت نے قانون ختم کرنے یا نرم کرنے یا غیر موثر کرنے کی کاروائی کی تو فیصلے سڑکوں پر ہونگے دوسری طرف حکومت نے شاتمین رسول کو بچانے کیلئے گزشتہ دو سال سے سزائے موت پر عملدرآمد سے روک دیا ہے علماء نے کہا ہے کہ کوئی مسلما ن اس قانون میں تبدلی کا سوچ بھی نہیں سکتا اگرکسی رکن اسمبلی نے ایسا کیا تو حلقے کے مسلمان اس سے حساب لیں گے۔
